ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Old Dominion’s Zach Redding set a pair of school records Friday night on day two at the Navy Invitational, winning the 200 freestyle and finishing second in the 100 butterfly.
Redding began his night finishing second in the 100 fly with a school record time of 46.74, finishing .23 behind Santa Barbara’s Zachary Tamusaitis. Redding broke the record held by Reed Mathews. His record setting time of 46.47 was set during the prelims.
Redding earned his second school record by winning the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:34.93, breaking the previous record held by Sidni Hoxha.
Bryce Mortimer led a trio of top 10 Monarchs in the 100 breaststroke, coming in fourth in a time of 54.58. Toni Sallaku finished fifth in 54.80 and Dawson Truong finished 10th in 55.64.
Ally Hilbrich earned a ninth-place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.54.
The men’s team finished the night by finishing fourth in the 800 free relay. The team of Redding, Robby Young, Evan Vinarov and Grey Bremer finished with a time of 6:41.13.
The final day of the meet continues tomorrow morning.
