NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s lacrosse announced its 2026 signing class, introducing six new players to the team, head coach Theresa Walton announced on ​Nov. 22.

“We are thrilled to welcome our 2026 Committed Class into the ODU Athletics family and our lacrosse program,” said Walton. “As a coaching staff, we are confident that this group has the talent and competitiveness to be immediate contributors on the field."

ODU is welcoming three new midfielder, two attackers, and one defender. Three of the incoming players are natives of New York, two will come to Norfolk from Maryland, and one calls Colorado home.

"For this class, we were able to be more selective in identifying the right players who not only complement our strong group of returners but also elevate our program’s pursuit of championships through their individual skillsets that strengthen our style of play,” said Walton. "What makes us as coaching staff most proud is how they pair exceptional athletic talent with equally impressive character. We have no doubt they will represent ODU Lacrosse with excellence both on campus and throughout the Norfolk community.”

Kate Christensen | Attack | Reisterstown, Md. | Maryvale Preparatory School

Christensen is a dual sport athlete who played lacrosse and soccer in high school. The incoming freshman attacker will make her way to Old Dominion from Reistertown, Md. She has been working on her craft at the Sky Walker Lacrosse Program, a lacrosse program that is ranked #14 in the nation. She was a part of a championship winning squad when she won the 2025 IAMM Conference A Championship. She was also involved when her soccer team won the 2024 IAMM Conference B Championship.

Kaleigh “KK” Howard | Attack | Northport, N.Y. | Northport High School 

Howard comes to ODU from Northport, N.Y., the attacker was named team captain for the 2026 season for the top ranked LI Yellow Jackets. Another dual sport athlete, she earned three varsity letters in soccer and helped her team to a 2025 Class AAA Suffolk County Championship.

Teagan Hudak | Midfield | Palmyra, N.Y. | Palmyra-Macedon High School

Hudak played soccer and lacrosse at Palmyra-Macedon High School. The incoming midfielder was named Finger Lakes All-League Third Team last season. In 2023 and 2024 she was selected to the Finger Lakes All-League First Team. In eighth grade, she helped lead her team to a Section 5 Class D Championship. She accumulated 64 points, 119 draw controls, 42 ground balls, and 14 caused turnovers in her junior season. Those numbers earned her Finger Lakes Co-Midfielder of the Year and an All-League First Team selection. While playing soccer she was named to the Finger Lakers East All-League First Team in 2023 and was an Honorable Mention in 2024.

Skylar Peterson | Defense | Littleton, Colo. | Heritage High School

Peterson is a defender from Heritage High School in Littleton, Colo. who played both lacrosse and basketball. She earned three varsity letters in basketball and captains her team this winter after being name an All-League Second Team member as a junior. In lacrosse she was named All-League First Team and was a CHSAA Class 4A All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore.  Last season as a junior she was an All-League First Team selection and a CHSAA Class 5A All-State First Team member. She additionally was named to the USA Lacrosse All-West Team.

Morgan Steigerwald | Midfield | Westminster, Md. | Gerstell Academy

Steigerwald is an incoming freshman midfielder from Gerstell Academy. She earned a varsity letter in both cross county and lacrosse. She made it to the IAMM Conference B Semifinals in 2025 and won the IAMM Conference B Championship in 2024.

Alayna Wood | Midfield | Syracuse, N.Y. | Henninger High School

Wood comes to ODU from Syracuse, N.Y. The midfielder played at Henninger High School. She played lacrosse and basketball. She broke the Syracuse City School District’s girl's lacrosse program record for career goals. The record had been held since 2013. In 2022, Wood was named SCAC All-League First Team and Second Team All-CNY as a freshman. She was a back-to-back SCAC All-League First Team and an All-CNY selection in 2024 and 2025. She also has four varsity letters in basketball.
