NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball faces its first road test of the 2025 campaign against William & Mary in Williamsburg at Kaplan Arena on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT:
Old Dominion defeated the Tribe 63-39 at Chartway Arena on Nov. 26, 2024. Kelsey Thompson led the Monarchs with a game high 16 points. En’Dya Buford tacked on six points and Hama’ya Fielder netted two threes in the winning effort. The Monarchs jumped out to a nine-point lead in the first six minutes of the game after Thompson converted an and-one to go up, 11-2. ODU expanded its lead in the second quarter after Thompson made a fast break layup to go up 21 (29-8) with 4:20 to play in the second quarter. The Tribe cut the deficit to 16 in the third quarter but that would be the closest they would claw back as ODU came away with the victory.

The Monarchs are on a two-game win streak after defeating Elizabeth City State (106-32) and Delaware (73-66). ODU opened the season with a 58-52 loss to UMass at Chartway Arena in the MAC-SBC Challenge First Round.
Old Dominion is led by Simone Cunningham and Simaru Fields. Cunningham, a senior forward from Pleasant Grove, Ala. averages a team-high 13.7 points per game and grabs nine boards per contest. Fields, a senior guard from Gulfport, Miss. averages 12.7 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and her defensive game has taken a jump. Last season she averaged 1.2 steals per game and this season that number has grown to four steals per game which ranks tied for first in the Sun Belt Conference and tied for 25th in the NCAA. Buford was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team and averages 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and three steals per game. Thompson, a forward from Mobile, Ala. has averaged 8.7 points and four rebounds per game. Laila Walker is the Monarchs’ second leading rebounder, averaging seven per game. Off the bench, she has averaged seven points per game. Riley Stack, a junior transfer from Coastal Carolina has brought her patented shot blocking ability to the 757 and leads the team with eight in three games played (2.7 per game).
As a team, the Monarchs average 77 points per game and concede 52 for a +25-scoring margin. The Silver and Blue are shooting 38% from the field with 28 field goals per game. ODU averages five made threes per game and at the charity stripe have shot an efficient 78.7% with 16 makes. In the rebounding battle the Monarchs hold a +10.3-rebounding margin against its opponents and grab 52 per game. ODU dishes out 14.3 assists, swipes 16.7 steals, and makes 7.7 blocks per game.

William & Mary is coming off an 84-58 loss to Richmond at Kaplan Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Tribe is 1-2 through three games played after opening the regular season with a 71-50 loss at Davidson and an 81-62 win over Barton.
Cassidy Geddes is the nation's 40th leading scorer, she averages 20 points per game and scored a season high 24 points in the loss to Richmond. Natalie Fox, a 6-4 sophomore from LaGrangeville, N.Y. has scored 10+ points in the Tribes’ first three games and averages 11 ppg and 5.7 rpg. Monet Dance averages 29 minutes on the court and is the team’s fourth leading scorer with 7.7 ppg. Jana Sallman has started one game this season and is the team’s third leading scorer with 9.3 points per game.
W&M have a -9.3-scoring margin and allow 72.3 points per game. They are shooting 36% from the field and 24% from behind the arc. The Tribe have a -5.7-rebounding margin and allow 39 boards per game.
