NORFOLK, Va. - ODU women’s basketball faces an old CAA foe when the Delaware Blue Hens head south for Norfolk. The two sides meet on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Chartway Arena.

This is a part of Military appreciation week sponsored by USAA. The game sponsor of the night is ODU Global. Fans will be able to watch both games on ESPN+ with Chip Tarkenton providing play-by-play and Kim Aston adding color commentary. Matthew Hatfield and Shonda Deberry can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1310 AM and live stats will also be available.

LAST TIME OUT:

The Monarchs and Blue Hens were scheduled to play on Dec. 22, 2024 but the matchup was postponed and never made up. The last time the two sides played was in the 2023-24 season on Thursday, Dec. 7. ODU came out with a 57-53 victory in Newark, Delaware. En’Dya Buford made a layup with 2:07 left in the fourth quarter to put ODU up by 11 (57-46) and the Blue Hens couldn’t recover. The Silver and Blue’s defense held Delaware to 27.8% shooting from deep, and under 33.3% from the field in the 2nd-4th quarters. En’Dya Buford and Kaye Clark lead the Monarchs with nine points each. 

ABOUT ODU:

Old Dominion is coming off a 106-32 win over Elizabeth City State on Friday, Nov. 7 at Chartway Arena. The win marked ODU head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones’ 100 win at Old Dominion. It came in ODU’s first win while scoring 100+ points since 2004 and featured every player on the scoresheet.

ULM transfer Laila Walker leads the Monarchs with an average of 10.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. She is followed by Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team selection Buford with 10 ppg. Simaru Fields rounds out the top three scorers on Old Dominion with 9.5 per game and an average of four steals per game. Simone Cunningham was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Third Team and has been a consistent worker on both sides of the ball. She averages nine points per game and eight rebounds per game along with one steal and one and a half blocks per game.

As a team, ODU is shooting 41% from the field and 68.4% from the charity stripe. The Monarchs have a +10 margin in the rebounding battle and grab 50.5 per game. Old Dominion has been active on the defense end with a +14.5-turnover margin, having forced 53 in two games played. This includes a +9-steal margin and a +3.5-block margin.

ABOUT DEL:

The Blue Hens finished last season with a 13-7 record and went 9-9 in the CAA. They are coached by third year head coach Sarah Jenkins. Delaware opened the new campaign against Bloomsburg on Nov. 3, 2025 and defeated the Huskies 83-59. The Blue Hens jumped out to a 40-17 score in the first half and didn’t look back.

As a team, Delaware scores an average of 72 points per game while shooting 41.3% from the field and 26% from behind the arc. The Blue Hens average 25 made field goals and 3.4 made three-pointers per game. On the glass, Delaware holds a +0.5 margin and grab an average of 37.5 per game. They average 15 turnovers per game, 10 steals per game, and 2.5 blocks per game.

Kailah Correa and Lay Fantroy lead the Blue Hens in scoring. Correa averages 15 ppg and four rebounds per game. Fantroy is slightly behind her with 14.5 ppg but averages a team high nine boards per contest. Trinity Vance rounds out the leading scorers with 10 ppg and two rebounds per game.
