NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion volleyball continues its road swing with a pair of Sun Belt matches at App State this weekend.
Friday’s series opener is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first serve, and the teams will then play again on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Mountaineers will stream both matches on ESPN+, and live stats will also be available.
Series History
ODU holds a slight lead in the all-time series, 4-3. The two teams split last season’s series in Norfolk. After dropping the first match to the Mountaineers, 3-1 on Oct. 11, the Monarchs bounced back with a 3-0 victory on Oct. 12.

The Monarchs (3-12, 0-4 Sun Belt) are coming off a pair of 3-0 losses at Coastal Carolina last weekend. ODU is listed at 207th in the latest RPI rankings.
Elisa Maggi leads the team with 198 points and 172 kills. Bryanna Jones is second in scoring with 124 points and 113 kills, and Katie Rakoski is one kill shy of reaching 100 on the season. Wiktoria Zagumny and Kyra Hampton have split time at setter, with the pair racking up 289 and 173 assists, respectively. Kate Kilpatrick is ODU’s best server with 17 aces while Maggi has served 11 aces.
Kilpatrick enters the weekend with 182 digs, Maggi is second with 128 digs, and Adrienne Peji is up to 102. At the net, LeeAnne Lowery has recorded 37 blocks, Emma Schelah has made 32, and Maggi is close behind them with 27.

The Mountaineers (11-4, 2-2) have split their first two Sun Belt series of the season. App State won 3-1 at James Madison on Sept. 26, but fell 3-1 in its second match with the Dukes. Last weekend at Louisiana, they fell in four sets on Oct. 3 but defeated the Ragin’ Cajuns 3-1 on Oct. 4.
Through matches played on Oct. 5, Maya Winterhoff ranks 17th nationally with 80 total blocks and is 26th with a .413 hitting percentage. She’s also third in the Sun Belt with 242 points while Addison Heidemann is third in the league with 499 assists. Winterhoff and Ali Morris have combined for 344 kills. Winterhoff and Keionna Mackey have both served 19 aces. MeMe Davis leads App State’s back row with 237 digs.
As a team, the Mountaineers are second in the conference in winning percentage (73.3%) and team assists (721) and are third with 102 aces. They're also 39th in the RPI rankings.
Head Coach Chad Sutton is in his first season with the program after spending the previous two years at Mercer. App State was picked to finish fourth in the Sun Belt’s East Division, with Winterhoff and Heidemann earning spots on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team.
