NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer heads to Columbia to play the South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Eugene E. Stone III Stadium.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.

LAST TIME OUT AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA:

The Monarchs hosted USC at the ODU Soccer Complex on Oct 27, 2024. Old Dominion fell 3-1 last time out after Harrison Myring scored the first two goals of the game in the 16th and 69th minute, respectively. Ethan Ballek put the Gamecocks up by three in the 71st and an Andrew Bennett solo goal in the 72nd couldn’t spark an ODU comeback.

ABOUT ODU:

The Silver and Blue are coming off their first Sun Belt Conference win of the 2025 season after defeating Coastal Carolina, 2-1 in Norfolk. Otu Bisong made his first career start for the Monarchs and took his opportunity in stride by scoring two goals for a brace in the opening 14 minutes. The freshman from Herndon, Va. earned Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.

ODU’s Jake Lane and Alex Kryazhev are tied for first on the team with 10 points. Lane, a junior transfer from Bowling Green has four goals to lead the Monarchs. Kryazhev, a graduate student transfer from Fairleigh Dickinson is the main provider with six assists. Lewis Rourke has three goals and two assists for eight points.

Lane and Kryazhev are tied with each other for ninth in the Sun Belt for points (10) in all games played. Kryazhev’s six assists and 0.60 assists per game in all matches is tied for second in the SBC. Lane’s four goals are tied for eighth in the conference leaderboard.

Monarch goalkeeper Michael Statham has started all 10 games for ODU and has three clean sheets and 32 saves. He ranks second in the Sun Belt for saves (32), saves per game (3.2). His three shutouts are tied for fourth best in the SBC. All-time in the Sun Belt, the senior from Stockport has 237 saves in 60 games played and averages 3.95 saves per game, Uk’s Conlon Sebastian is second with 202, an average of 3.01 saves per game in 67 games played.

ABOUT USC:

South Carolina is coming off a 2-0 loss to UCF on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Columbia after two second half goals from the Knights. The Gamecocks are 2-1-1 in the last four games. USC sits in fifth place in the Sun Belt with a 1-1-1 record. South Carolina is led by head coach Tony Annan in his fifth year with the program.

Ballek has 14 points in 12 games to rank first on the team, he has five goals and four assists. Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez and Tyler Trimnal are tied for second with eight points, both have three goals and two assists for the Gamecocks.

Filip Versterre has started all 12 games for USC, has made 28 saves, and kept two clean sheets this season.

The Monarchs return to Norfolk for an in-state matchup and the last non-conference game of 2025 for Old Dominion. ODU takes on Regent on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
