NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer rounds out the 2025 regular season with a pivotal matchup against Georgia State on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.

The Monarchs head into the game against Georgia State as the number one team in the East Division. The Panthers sit in second with two divisional points separating them. ODU has a chance to win the outright Sun Belt Regular Season Title. Texas State and ULM currently hold the top two spots but are tied with 19 conference points. ODU and South Alabama are knotted at 18 conference points in third and fourth position.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available.

LAST TIME OUT:

ODU drew level with the Panthers last season in Atlanta. Rhea Kijowski opened the scoring and ended the scoring with a goal in the 38th minute and a goal with one minute remaining. GSU’s Aaliyah Faddoul equalized in the 70th and Reese Gordon grabbed a one-goal advantage with 90 seconds left. Kijowski was awarded a penalty kick with a minute remaining after a VAR review for a handball by Elena Diaz and converted from the spot. The Monarchs outshot the Panthers 15-11 and 8-6 in shots on goal.

ABOUT ODU:

Old Dominion enters their final game of the regular season riding strong form. The Monarchs currently hold a conference record of 5-1-3 and an overall mark of 9-2-4. ODU ranks first in the Sun Belt in shots (258), third in assists (32), and are fifth in total points (90). 

ODU is coming off a 3-0 Senior Night win over Arkansas State. Old Dominion’s goals came from senior Andy Balcazar, sophomore Madison Toone, and Graduate student Gry Boe Thrysoe. Thrysoe scored her fifth goal and 11th point of the season. Balcazar scored her second this season and sixth point, followed by Toone who netted her first goal of her ODU career.

Ellie Goodrich got the start for the Monarchs and notched her fifth clean sheet of the season. Goodrich has conceded only two goals in 630 minutes. ODU as a team has logged six shutout games which is tied for second in the Sun Belt. The Monarch defense has only allowed 13 goals which is second in the league.

ABOUT GSU:

Georgia State is looking for a rebound victory after a 2-0 home loss to JMU on Friday night in Atlanta. The Panthers are second in shots and second in goals in the Sun Belt.

GSU’s forwards Emily Glenn and Hina Suzuki both have six goals and 12 points which is good for fifth in the conference. Junior midfielder Sunniyah Tucker has also been involved in the goals for the Panthers (3) and is tied for fourth in the SBC in assists with six. Junior forward Aaliyah Faddoul has five goals and five assists (15 points) on the season for the GSU. 

Sophomore Ariana Anderson has played and started in 14 out of the 17 matches for GSU. She has 54 saves from 138 shots faced, a 75% save percentage.

Following the conclusion of the match and other SBC matches, the Monarchs will learn their final standing in the conference and who their next opponent will be. The first round of matches in the Sun Belt Conference Championship begins on Monday, Nov. 3 in Foley, Alabama.
