NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer is looking for its second win of the 2025 season when the Monarchs head to Lewisburg, Pa. to battle it out with the Bucknell Bison on Sunday, September 7 at 2 p.m.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.

LAST TIME OUT:

Sunday afternoon’s contest will be the first time the two programs will meet on the pitch. The Bison’s date their program back to 1929 when they were led by head coach J.B. Hopkins.

ABOUT OLD DOMINION:

The Monarchs are coming off a 2-2 draw in Bethlehem, Pa. against Lehigh. ODU conceded a late equalizer by Yusef Gueye assisted by Jason Pynadath. Evan Watt scored his first goal of the season in the 9th minute from a corner kick, Gueye leveled the score in the 27th, and Alex Kryazhev scored the first goal in his ODU career in the 60th minute. ODU held the advantage in both shots, 11 to seven, and corner kicks, five to three.

Jake Lane, a junior transfer from Bowling Green, leads the team in goals scored (3) and points (6). Lane has taken four shots this season and found the back of the net on 75% of his attempts. Kryazhev has started three out of four games for ODU and has one goal and two assists to rank second on the team in points. Captain Michael Eberle leads the Monarchs with three assists. Jago Lott and Micah Wayland have both chipped in one assist.

Senior Michael Statham has started all four games in goal for Old Dominion. He has made 14 saves, averages 3.5 per game, and has two clean sheets this season.

ABOUT BUCKNELL:

The Bison is coming off a 3-2 defeat to #22 George Mason and a 2-2 draw against Maryland at College Park. GM got out to a 2-0 lead with goals in the 29th and 52nd minute. Bucknell came storming back with a goal and leveled the game in the 76th. George Mason’s Brent Fields played hero on the night and scored in the final minute of action off an assist by James Eliuda to seal the victory. Bucknell won its first two games to start the season, first against #23 Hofstra, 2-1 on August 21 and the second was against the Bonnies of St. Bonaventure, 3-2 on August 24.

Jack Lucas ranks first on the Bison with three goals and seven points. Five Bison all have notched one assist this season. Zane Domsohn is the team’s second leading scorer with two goals in four starts.

Freddie Lapworth has played the most minutes out of all the Bucknell players. He has started all four games and has played every minute of each. He has conceded eight goals and made 20 saves. He has not registered a shutout yet this season.

UP NEXT:

ODU plays one more game on the road against UMBC on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in Baltimore, Md. at the Retriever Soccer Park. The Monarchs then return to Norfolk for the opening game of Sun Belt Conference play against Georgia Southern on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
