NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion field hockey team packs up to go on the road for its first away games of the season with match ups against Princeton and Penn. 

ODU lost its season opener match in overtime against VCU 3-2, and went on to defeat William & Mary 6-0. 

Both matches will be hosted at Princeton and will have live stats and stream on ESPN+.

Against the Princeton Tigers, the Monarchs hold the series record of 9-5 as of September 2001. The two schools have also met in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament twice, with ODU winning in 1998 and Princeton winning in 1996. The last time the Monarchs and the Tigers met was in 2006 with a Princeton win 3-2, and the last meeting with Penn ODU goes back to 1988 in the NCAA Championship semifinal, with ODU holding the record 1-0. 

ABOUT THE MONARCHS:

Sophomore Josie Painter leads the Monarchs in scoring with six points, followed by Senior Sanci Molkenboer, who has five goals and three assists. Junior goalkeeper Suus Broers has made a total of five saves with a save percentage of 62.5%.

ABOUT PRINCETON:

Princeton opens its season against the Monarchs on September 5th. The Tigers went 14-6 last season with midfielder Beth Yeager racking in 16 points for the Tigers. Goalkeeper Robyn Thompson started in goal in all 20 games, recording 56 saves with a save percentage of 72.7%. 

ABOUT PENNSYLVANIA:

Penn opens their season on Friday the 5th against North Carolina. The Quakers went 4-12 last season with midfielder Julia Ryan recording six goals and six assists along with forward Livia Loozen recording six goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Ruby de Frees started all 16 games for Penn, logging 66 saves with a 62.3% save percentage.
