NORFOLK, Va - Old Dominion men’s soccer makes its way to Atlanta to have a Sun Belt Conference matchup against Georgia State on Sunday night at the GSU Soccer Complex.
The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST GSU:
The Monarchs and the Panthers played out a 0-0 draw in Norfolk on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024. Both teams had 12 shots in the game with the Monarchs edging GSU six to five for shots on goal. With a minute left to play, GSU’s Pavel Romero-Garmendia had a shot saved by Michael Statham before having to clear a corner kick attempt from the Panthers. Evan Watt had a last second shot with two seconds remaining but wasn’t able to put it on target.
ABOUT ODU:
ODU men’s soccer will play a team from Georgia for the second time in 10 days after falling 2-1 to #25 Georgia Southern on Sept. 19. The Monarchs are coming off a bounce back 3-1 win against William & Mary which saw Michael Eberle, Evan Watt, and Jake Lane scoring for Old Dominion.
A junior midfielder transfer from Bowling Green, Jake Lane leads the team with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Alex Kryazhev has two goals and four assists for eight points and Lewis Rourke has three goals and one assist for seven points. Senior captain Eberle has three assists and one goal for five points.
Old Dominion ranks third in the Sun Belt for shutouts (3) and assists with 1.86 per game. The Monarchs have worked the corner flag more than their opponents with a +13 margin in corner kicks in all games.
Senior goalkeeper Statham is tied for first in the Sun Belt with 24 saves and three saves per game. His three shutouts stand in second in the conference in all games played.
ABOUT GSU:
The Panthers are coming off a 1-1 draw at home to Wofford on Tuesday. GSU has an overall record of 2-2-4 and is undefeated with a 1-0-2 record at home. Their first SBC game was a contest on the road at South Carolina that ended 2-2.
Georgia State’s Matthew Taylor ranks first on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points. Samir-Mohamed Djeha has started all eight games and has notched three goals and provided two assists for eight points. Braiden Hall and Tom Williams sit at third and fourth on the team’s scoring leaders with five and four points respectively.
Loan Marin has started every game for the Panthers and is tied for first in the SBC with Statham after making 24 saves. He has a save percentage of .686 and has recorded one shutout.
