NORFOLK, Va. - The BIG EAST announced its 2025 Preseason Field Hockey Poll and Awards on Tuesday. Old Dominion’s Suus Broers was named the league’s Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, and Serena Langendoen was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Additionally, Broers and Langendoen were honored as part of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. ODU was picked to finish third in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Broers, a native of Utrecht in the Netherlands, is honored for the second consecutive year in a row as the Preseason BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. Broers started in all 18 games in goal for ODU last season, made 49 saves, and recorded two shutouts. She was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on September 3, earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team, and was named to the 2024 NFCHA South All-Region Second Team. She ranked 22nd in the nation last season with a 1.375 goals against average and was 33rd with a .588 win-loss percentage.
Langendoen, a native of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, is honored in her second season at ODU. She started in all 18 games as a freshman, scoring seven goals and recording one assist for 15 points. Langendoen was awarded BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on October 15, earned Second Team All-BIG EAST honors, and was named to the 2024 NFHCA South All-Region Second Team.
Old Dominion opens the 2025 regular season on August 25 against VCU at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex at 5 pm.
