NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s soccer matches up against the undefeated Maryland Terrapins for the second time after originally meeting 30 years ago. This time, the Terrapins make their way to Norfolk for a game on Sunday, August 24 at 6 p.m. for Housing and Residence Life Night.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.

LAST TIME OUT:

Old Dominion first met Maryland in the ODU program's second season, 30 years ago in 1995. The Monarchs tasted defeat (6-0) in College Park on September 24.

ABOUT ODU:

The Monarchs (1-0-1) opened their season with a 2-2 draw against #19 Georgetown thanks to a late equalizer from Gry Boe Thrysoe. ODU got its first win of the 2025 regular season against in-state rival William & Mary, 1-0, in part thanks to a great finish by freshman Ashley Economopoulos in the 67th minute of action. Through two games the freshman from Grantville, Pennsylvania has a goal and an assist for three total points.

ODU was picked to finish third in the Sun Belt’s Preseason Coaches Poll and junior defender Ashlynn Kulha received Sun Belt Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, was selected to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team, and is on the 2025 Hermann Trophy Watchlist. Thrysoe and Economopoulos are tied for the team lead in total points (3). 

ABOUT MARYLAND:

The Terrapins (3-0-0) have gotten off to a 3-0 start to begin their season with wins against Lehigh (3-0), St. Francis (5-0) and UMBC (1-0). Maryland Head Coach Michael Marchiano was appointed in December 2024 and is undertaking his first season as the head of the Terrapins. Familiar with the program, Marchiano was an assistant coach during the 2023-24 season.

Kelsey Smith leads the Terrapins in goals (3) and points (7). Ava Morales is tied with Lisa McIntyre on the team with two goals. Morales and Alyssa Abramson are tied for first on the team in assists (2). Faith Luckey has started all three games in goal and is yet to concede in Maryland’s first three games.
