NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer opens the 2025 regular season at home against George Washington on Thursday night, 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Stadium. ODU recruited 16 new players and the 2025 recruiting class was ranked 25th by Top Drawer Soccer.

The game will be streamed to ESPN+ and live stats will be available for all fans who wish to follow along with the action.

LAST TIME OUT

The Monarchs met the Revolutionaries in Washington, D.C. on August 22 last year and Old Dominion handled GW, 4-2. ODU scored three goals past George Washington’s goalkeeper Tom Macauley in the first half. GW were able to score before the first half ended but Timothy Ennin found the net 20 seconds into the start of the second half for his second goal of the game. Key White and Noah Madrigal got themselves on the scoresheet with one goal each in the victory. ODU’s defense was strong too, they handled the in-swinging crosses that were a common sight due to the Revolutionaries 13 corners.

ABOUT ODU

Old Dominion men’s soccer played two exhibition games in the build-up to this regular season home opener with a game against UNCW and Longwood. The Monarchs were picked to finish seventh in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Monarchs Michael Eberle who tied for the team lead with 10 points on three goals and four assists returns for his senior year. Teagan Dunne, who played in 17 games and made 16 starts last season returns to help the backline. Michael Statham is back in goal for ODU after starting every game, making 65 saves, and keeping five clean sheets for Old Dominion last season.

ABOUT GW

George Washington finished last season with a 3-12-2 overall record and went 1-6-1 in the A-10.

The leading scorer for the Revolutionaries last season was Louis Crofts, slotting in five goals for 10 total points. William Turner was close behind with a team-leading three assists and three goals for nine points. Macaulay played in goal on 14 separate occasions, making 57 saves on the season and keeping three shutouts.
