LOS ANGELES - Old Dominion women’s basketball spent their final days in California taking in the sights and visiting an amusement park as a send-off after a long week of team bonding and lessons learned from WNBA players.

On Thursday the Monarchs planned to go take a two-hour hike to the Hollywood sign, but due to complications the team opted to spend time at the famous Santa Monica Pier. The squad of players and coaches all took a team picture before departing. Afterwards ODU women’s basketball headed to Venice Beach to spend quality time getting some sun therapy and enjoying the ocean. The team made sure to take another team picture at the beach and then headed back to the hotel.

On Friday, the team’s last day in Los Angeles, the women’s basketball team took an excursion to Berry Knotts Farm. Knotts Farm is an amusement park in Buena Park, California. The Monarchs visited the four themed areas around the park, which are: Ghost Town, Fiesta Village, The Boardwalk, and Camp Snoopy. ODU players and coaches spent a few hours taking advantage of five-minute lines and went on a number of rides.

After wearing out from the whiplash, the team headed to Knotts Berry Farm’s Soak City, a waterpark which is less than a two-minute walk after exiting the amusement park. Monarch players spent time laying in the lazy river and riding waves in the wave pool. The team headed back and grabbed a team dinner at Roscoe’s House of Chicken’n Waffles before taking the drive back to Hotel Indigo.

Old Dominion heads back to familiar territory tomorrow morning with ODU women’s basketball arriving at LAX early tomorrow morning and an expected arrival back in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday night.
