CHICAGO – Old Dominion linebacker Jason Henderson was named to the Dick Butkus Award Preseason Watch List. The Butkus Award is given to the top linebacker in the country.
A two-time All-American, Henderson redshirted in 2024 after playing in one game.
In 2022, he led the country with 186 tackles and earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors and second-team All-America honors.
Henderson finished with 170 tackles in 2023, led the country with 14.2 tackles per game, and finished third in the country with 1.6 tackles for loss per game. He earned first-team All-America honors and first-team All-Sun Belt honors.
Henderson is the only player from the Sun Belt Conference on the Butkus Award Watch List and one of two Group of Six players, with the other Jordan Kwiatowski of Central Michigan.
Henderson and the Monarchs open fall camp on Wednesday and open the season on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Indiana.
