NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University baseball has a fourth player headed to the professional level this summer as Kyle Edwards has signed with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League.
He joins a trio of ODU baseball pitchers making the leap to the pros as Dylan Brown, Ben Moore, and Blake Morgan all had their names called during the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft last week.
A shortstop from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Edwards finished second in the Sun Belt Conference in stolen bases (26) and third in stolen bases per game (0.49) this past season. He was named Mr. Monarch in 2025 at this year’s Golden Monarch Awards and served as SAAC President. Finishing his ODU career with a .268 batting average, he led the team with a .341 clip in 2023. He also had 16 home runs, 41 doubles, 122 runs, 92 RBIs, and 61 stolen bases.
Edwards also played for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League this summer, hitting .285 in 33 games while earning All Star honors. His base stealing continued as he went 41-for-42 and scored 27 runs. He also finished the summer season with four doubles, two triples and 21 RBIs. He previously played with the Strasburg Express and the Charlottesville Tom Sox of the Valley Baseball League in previous summers.
