NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball has announced its non-conference opponents for the 2025-26 season.
“This season gives way to exciting games for our beloved fans, we have a great mix of competition that matches the different levels of play that we will encounter during our conference play,” said ODU Head Coach DeLisha Milton-Jones. “We have healthy Power 4 opponents on the road and a healthy number of talented teams to face in Chartway Arena that our fans will appreciate. We look forward to a fiery season of intense defense and electric offense. Monarch Nation let’s go!!”
The Monarchs will meet UMass for the first time in the program’s history for the first round of the MAC-SBC Challenge to begin the season on Monday, November 3 at Chartway Arena. UMASS finished last season with a 17-15 overall record. After the Minutewomen fell to St. Louis in the A-10 Tournament, they accepted a bid to the WNIT. They defeated Stonehill College 86-40 in the opening round, but dropped an 84-82 overtime loss to Buffalo in the second round.
ODU will host DII Elizabeth City State College for the second all-time matchup between teams. The first time the two sides met was during the 1965-66 season as Old Dominion dropped a neutral site matchup 90-87. The Monarchs will play the Vikings on Friday, November 7.
Old Dominion meets a familiar CAA foe when the Delaware Blue Hens head south to Norfolk for a meeting on Wednesday, November 12 at Chartway Arena. The Monarchs are 18-8 all-time against the Blue Hens. Delaware will be in its first season as a member of Conference USA.
The Monarchs head to Williamsburg to meet the Tribe for a matchup on Sunday, November 16. ODU last played the Tribe on November 26, 2024 and defeated them by a score of 63-39. ODU holds a 63-7 all-time series lead against W&M.
ODU travels to Greenville, North Carolina to face off against the Pirates on November 21. Old Dominion has met East Carolina 53 times dating back to the 1969-70 season where the two sides first faced off.
North Carolina Central travels to Norfolk for a meeting with the Monarchs on Sunday, November 23. ODU holds a 3-0 lead in the all-time series and last played the Eagles on November 27, 2016 in Norfolk. ODU came out victorious 83-52.
The Monarchs have been invited and have accepted an invitation to Hoop Fest which will take place from November 24-27.
ODU hosts Delaware State, the Monarchs welcome the Jackets to Norfolk on Monday December 1. Old Dominion last met the Jackets twelve years ago in 2013 where the Monarchs came away with a 30-point victory, 97-67. The programs have met three times with all three wins going in ODU’s favor.
In the final non-conference home game, Old Dominion hosts the Howard Bison on Sunday, December 7. The Monarchs meet the Bison for the second year in a row and the fifth time overall. ODU holds a 4-0 all-time series lead heading into the matchup. Last season ODU traveled to the nation’s capital and came away with a 75-58 victory thanks to 41 points from the trio of En’Dya Buford (16), Simaru Fields (13), and Kelsey Thompson (12).
The Old Dominion women’s basketball team will play in the Cherokee Invitational, hosted at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, N.C. on December 21-22. ODU joins Indiana State, Michigan State and Ole Miss in the event.
The second round of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge will see ODU hosting a MAC opponent on Saturday, Feb. 7. Matchups for the second round will be determined by geography, frequency of past contests, and NET rankings.
