NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion Volleyball Head Coach Fred Chao has added another transfer for the upcoming 2025 season in Taylor Motes. She marks the fifth member of this year’s recruiting class, joining Rita Benidio, Katie Rakoski, Wiktoria Zagumny, and Kyra Hampton.

"We are fortunate to add another transfer who will make an impact on our roster for the upcoming season," said Chao. “Taylor has spent a year training at a high level with one of the top teams in the Sun Belt. She is a smart and dynamic player who will compete for playing time right away. Her familiarity with the level and the league will be an advantage to her transition.”

A right-side hitter from Bixby, Oklahoma, Motes redshirted her freshman season at Arkansas State. A two-sport athlete who also competed in track & field, she played four seasons of volleyball at Victory Christian in Tulsa, Oklahoma and helped the Lady Conquerors capture two state titles and make two additional state tournament berths.

A two-time Oklahoma Coaches Athletic Association Second-Team selection, she garnered All-State Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore and was voted the best player in Tulsa in 2022 by VYPE Magazine. Her other accolades include multiple Tournament MVP awards and All-Conference honors. Throughout her high school career, she recorded over 200 blocks while posting multiple seasons of 150 kills or more, to include 232 her senior year.

Motes also played club ball for coaches Teresa Winn at Oklahoma Blaze and Nikki Cool at Tulsa Power.

“She has a big personality that balances her competitiveness with a ‘team-first’ mentality,” added Chao. “We are excited to work with her and continue to develop her into a major contributor.”
