Sailing to Compete in National Championships Beginning on Tuesday

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. - The Old Dominion University Women's Sailing Team will be competing this week at the 2025 College Sailing Women's National Championships host ed by St. Mary’s College in Lexington Park, Maryland.

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. - The Old Dominion University Women's Sailing Team will be competing this week at the 2025 College Sailing Women's National Championships host ed by St. Mary’s College in Lexington Park, Maryland.

The event begins on Tuesday, May 20 with the first start at 9:30 a.m. The format for the event consists of two stages. On Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21, the 36 selected teams are seeded into two 18-team semifinal events. At the conclusion of the semifinal stage, the top nine teams from each semifinal will progress to a combined 18-team final stage. A national champion will be crowned at the end of finals on Friday. 

The Monarchs head into Women's Nationals as the No. 16 seed (out of 36). They will compete in the Eastern Semifinal beginning Tuesday. ODU is coming off of a sixth place finish at the Women's Conference Championships and is looking to progress to the finals stage for the first time since 2021. Starting in the A Division will be Gianna Dewey and Allison Jean Volk, with Marina Conde and Isabelle Kanach in B division. Dewey recently was named to the Second Team All-Conference team.
