NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University men’s tennis players Codie Van Schalkwyk and Aryan Saleh earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, the CSC announced on Tuesday.

A senior from Windhoek, Namibia, Van Schalkwyk is a management major with a 3.50 GPA.

Van Schalkwyk went 9-13 on the year in singles and 16-7 in doubles. He earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors in doubles with his brother, Connor.

A sophomore from Eschborn, Germany, Saleh has a 3.66 GPA and is majoring in sports management.

Saleh finished the year 19-11 in singles and 6-6 in doubles. He earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles in ODU’s win over Georgia Southern to win the Sun Belt Championship.

To qualify, a student-athlete must meet the following requirements:
  • An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
  • A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
  • The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50.
  • Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
  • Eligible nominees must be in the lineup for 70 percent of an institution's days of competition (regional competition such as ITAs and non-team scored events do not count).
