NORFOLK, Va. – If you’re an Old Dominion University football fan, the smart move financially is to purchase season tickets.

The math here is pretty simple – you save 15 percent over tickets purchased at the gate.

And if there are a few games you can't attend, no problem.

Have friends or family interested in using your seats?  With a few taps on your phone you will be able to seamlessly transfer tickets.

If not, with ODU’s integration with Seat Geek, the official secondary marketing place of ODU Athletics, log in and list tickets for resell all from your ticketing account.

Moreover, for each season ticket you purchase, you will receive four free tickets for ODU’s final game of the season on Nov. 29 against Georgia State as part of Fan Appreciation Day.

And while we make no promises about this basketball season, football season ticket holders were provided four free tickets to men’s and women’s basketball games last season.

ODU, once again, did not raise football season ticket prices. Ticket prices remain the same in 2025 as they were in 2024.

“We have endeavored to make sure that ODU football season tickets remain the best bargain in town,” said Dr. Wood Selig, ODU’s director of athletics.

There are a ton of reasons for having season tickets that go beyond your bottom line.

You get to choose your seats and clearly, you’re going to be sitting in a much better location than someone who purchases single-game tickets online.

You and other season ticket holders get the first shot at purchasing single-game tickets. ODU had three sellouts last season and several games this season could draw capacity crowds – Liberty on Sept. 27; Family Weekend game against Coastal Carolina on Oct. 4 and Homecoming game against App State on Oct 25 will surely draw large crowds.

Plus, there are special events yet to be announced exclusively for football season ticket holders.

If the Monarchs go to a bowl game, season ticket holders get priority to purchase those tickets.

And while there is public parking for football games, if you want a reserved spot in a tailgate lot, you must be a season-ticket holder.

“We know that our season ticket holders are our best and most loyal fans,” said Joe Rafanelli, senior associate athletic director for revenue generation & external operations.

“We want to do everything we can to meet all of their needs.”

The deadline for renewing season tickets is Thursday, May 1.

I was asked to do a series of stories this spring on the value of season tickets and ODU football and there are a bunch of very good reasons beyond affordability and price.

There is optimism about the 2025 season in part because ODU has two very talented, young quarterbacks, and All-American linebacker Jason Henderson returns.

The drone show that was such a hit last season returns, and we’ve found ways to make ODU’s prodigious tailgaters party even harder.

The 2025 schedule looks to be challenging again, and in case you didn’t know, ODU produces a ton of NFL players.
