NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s basketball players En’dya Buford, Brenda Fontana, and Kelsey Thompson have been named to the CSC 2024-25 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their performances both on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for the award, recipients must achieve a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher and must either play in 90% of their games during the season or start in at least 66% of games.

Buford started in all 34 games for the Monarchs this season, was the team's leading scorer (13.1 ppg), and earned All-Sun Belt Second Team honors. The native of Memphis, Tennessee finished second in the conference and 32nd in the country with 78 steals. She led the Sun Belt with 2.44 steals per game and was also second in the league with 122 free throws made and 136 assists.  Buford scored in double figures 23 times, including setting a new career high of 32 points in a Feb. 20 win over Sun Belt champion Arkansas State, and recorded three double-doubles. Off the court, the communications major earned a 3.51 GPA and is being considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-American ballot.

Fontana also played in all 34 games for the Monarchs, starting in 33. She finished the season with 284 points (8.4 ppg) and led the team in blocks with 27. She added 154 rebounds (4.5 rpg), 30 assists, and 40 steals to her totals. The Buenos Aires, Argentina native scored in double figures 14 times and helped lead ODU to an 81-65 win at Coastal Carolina on Feb. 26 with a career best of 21 points. Fontana earned a 3.92 GPA while working towards a master’s degree in cybersecurity.

Thompson appeared and started in all 34 games for the Monarchs. She was third on the team in scoring, netting 322 points and averaging 9.5 ppg. The Mobile, Alabama native also added 161 rebounds (4.7 rpg), 61 assists, 27 steals, and seven blocks to her season totals. Thompson scored in double digits 17 times and had two double-doubles. She pulled down 11 rebounds with 10 points at Marshall on Feb. 13 and finished with 15 points and 10 boards against Georgia State in the Sun Belt Championship on March 7. In the classroom, the junior sports management major earned a 3.67 GPA.
