NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women’s rowing competes in the George Washington Invitational Regatta this weekend at the Thompson Boat Center on the Potomac River this weekend, April 12-13.
“We are looking forward to returning to the GW Invite this year, this year’s competition looks strong and will include some good teams from the west coast.” said ODU Head Coach Brian Conley
ODU will compete against St. Mary’s (Calif.), Georgetown, West Virginia, UC San Diego and, host school, GWU.
The race will be livestreamed (click here). Saturday, Old Dominion will be racing against St. Mary’s in the V8+, 2V8+, and V4+ and ODU’s 2V4+ will race Georgetown. On Sunday there will be early morning racing with ODU racing against Big 12 opponent West Virginia in all events. ODU will race UC San Diego in the V8+, 2V8+, & V4+. Our 2V4+ will race George Washington.
The race is 2000m long on the Potomac River. For fans in attendance, the best places to watch from are by the finish line near the Thompson Boat Center.
“I think the team has had a good two weeks of practice, we are still fine tuning our line-ups for conference championships like every other team, so being able to race down the course three times against some good teams will be a great opportunity to see where we stand both within our conference and outside our conference.” added Conley.
ODU will head back home to compete against Temple on April 19, at 12 p.m. in the last race day before the Big XII Championship in Sarasota, Florida.
