OOLTEWAH, Tenn. – Puneet Bajwa and Mariana Arronte were the top two finishers for Old Dominion Women’s Golf at the Chattanooga Classic, tying for 25th and 35th, respectively after Saturday’s final round at The Honors Course.

The tournament was originally scheduled for three days, but the field played 36 holes on Saturday due to unfavorable conditions expected on Sunday.

Bajwa sandwiched a second round of 78 with a couple of two-over par 74s to finish at 10-over 226. Arronte started off the weekend with an 82 for her day, but put up a 74 and 73 for a 54-hole total of 13-over 229. Lucia Gonzalez was one stroke back of Arronte and tied for 42nd with a 14-over 230. Barbara Car placed 88th with a final tally of 259 (+43), and Carley Rudolf recorded a 272 (+56) to end up at 89th. Alina Shchepteva competed as an individual and finished 83rd at 250 (+34).

In the team standings, the Monarchs finished 15th with a combined score of 943 (+79). Florida came in first with a 16-over par 880, Virginia took second at 25-over 889, and North Carolina and Wisconsin shot a couple of 26-over 890s to tie for third.

Duke’s Anna Cañado Espinal was the individual medalist after hitting a one-over 217. There was a four-way tie for second place as UNC’s Ing Iadpluem, UVA’s Jaclyn LaHa, and Wisconsin’s Carly Carter and Chloe Chan all turned in three-over 219s.

“We really enjoyed getting to play the Honors Course,” said ODU Head Coach Mallory Kane. “It’s a special, historic place. Each round we had to count a high fourth score and that really impacted our team finish.

“March has been a busy, long month on the road. We are looking forward to a weekend at home to prepare for the conference championship,” added Kane.

ODU will have two weeks to prepare for the Sun Belt Championship, which will be held April 14-17 at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Alabama.
