NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University women’s soccer goalkeeper, Ellie Goodrich, has been selected for the U.S. Women’s Futsal National Team and will take part in the team’s upcoming training camp from Feb. 21-March 2 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
“We are so proud of Ellie being selected for this camp,” ODU Women’s Soccer Head Coach Angie Hind said. “To represent your country is such a great honor and Futsal is a sport that Ellie has played at a high level even prior to her joining ODU Women’s soccer. We as a team are excited to follow her journey at this exciting time for Futsal.”
Futsal is an indoor form of soccer that is played on a basketball sized court, featuring five-on-five competition and two halves that are 25 minutes apiece.
The training camp will encompass a historic milestone for the Futsal WNT, as the team will play its first-ever international matches, facing Costa Rica on Feb. 25, Feb. 27 and March 1 at the headquarters of the Costa Rica Football Federation in Alajuela.
The February gathering is the second of three training camps this year prior to the 2025 Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championship to be held April 29-May 4 at the Domo Polideportivo, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, with the top two finishers qualifying for the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, from Nov. 21-Dec. 7 in the Philippines.
Following this month’s camp, the Futsal WNT will gather once more in early April before a final roster will be named for the Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championship.
