NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s basketball play its final two home games this week, taking on Marshall for the first time this season on Thursday at 5 p.m. before welcoming Georgia State to Norfolk for Senior Night on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Thursday’s game against the Thundering Herd will be presented by Chartway Credit Union for Chartway Promise Night. Saturday’s game against the Panthers is Fan Appreciation Night. Both games will have live stats and will be streamed on ESPN+. Andy Mashaw and Dennis Wolff will be on the call for ESPN Radio 94.1.

LAST TIME OUT

ODU will face off against Marshall for the first time this season on Saturday. The Monarchs are 16-14 all-time against the Herd. In their last matchup, Old Dominion came away with a 83-76 win to extend their win streak against Marshall to three.

The Monarchs last met the Panthers last week on Feb. 13, falling 97-75. ODU is 8-2 at home against GSU, and 19-9 all time. Four Monarchs scored in double digits while Georgia State had two players score over 20.

Old Dominion men’s basketball went 0-2 last week, losing to Georgia State 97-75 on Feb. 13 before losing to Georgia Southern 78-75 on Feb. 15. ODU has an 11-16 overall record and is 7-7 in the Sun Belt. The Monarchs are eighth in the Sun Belt standings, 314 in NET ranking, 300 in Kenpom, and have a -7.8 BPI.

Sean Durugordon is tied for first on the team in points, averaging 15.4 ppg. The native of Harlem, New York, is ODU’s leading rebounder averaging 8.6 rpg. His average of 3.85 offensive rebounds per game is sixth best in the nation and ranks first in the Sun Belt. He is the team’s third leading free throw shooter, hitting 78.6% at the stripe. Durugordon ranks seventh in the Sun Belt in scoring (15.4 ppg), third in rebounding (8.6 rpg), fifth in field goal percentage (46.3%), and sixth in free throw percentage. Durugordon has 11 double doubles this season which ranks 15th in the NCAA and his eight 20-point games is fourth in the Sun Belt

Robert Davis Jr. is tied with Durugordon for first on the team in scoring with 15.4 points per game. Davis leads the team in three-point attempts and makes (89-266). The sophomore transfer from UMass averages 3.42 made threes per game which has him fifth in the nation, while his 89 makes from deep are fourth in the NCAA. In the Sun Belt, Davis ranks sixth in scoring (15.4 ppg), second in free throw percentage (84.8%), first in total three-pointers made (89), and is first in minutes per game (35.58).

Caelum Swanton-Rodger, a junior transfer from Maryland, swats away 1.5 blocks per game, his 39 blocks this season ranks 91st in the nation and fifth in the Sun Belt. The junior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada has played 26 of 25 games in his first year at Old Dominion and averages 5.5 ppg on 58.1% shooting and grabs 4.3 rebounds per game. He scored a career high 16 points against Georgia State and has scored 10+ points five times this season.

Freshman Jaden Johnson has started all 27 games this season at point guard. He leads the Monarchs in assists per game (3.9) which ranks eighth in the Sun Belt. The native of Walker Mill, Maryland is sixth in the Sun Belt in minutes played (33.68). He has a +1.58 assist to turnover ratio and has shot 82.6% from the free throw line in Sun Belt games.

Caden Diggs has played in all 27 games as a freshman. He shoots 79.2% from the charity stripe and averages 2.8 ppg on 40.3% shooting from the field. The native of Waldorf, Maryland is coming off a career high 11-point performance against Georgia Southern.

ODU averages 68.6 ppg, shoots 40.4% from the floor and 28.1% from behind the arc, making six per game. They hold a +2.9-rebounding margin and grab 38.7 per game while dishing out 10.8 assists per game. The Monarchs have swatted away 82 shots this season while swiping 140 steals. In the Sun Belt, ODU ranks first in offensive rebounds per game (14.07), second in offensive rebound percentage (36.4%), and they have the second-best rebounding offense (38.67). The Monarchs are the ninth ranked offensive rebounding team in the nation, averaging 14.07 offensive rebounds per game.

ABOUT MARSHALL

Marshall is 15-12 with an 8-6 Sun Belt Conference record. The Thundering Herd are ranked 201 in the NET rankings and have a -2.1 BPI.

The Herd averages 75.5 points a game with a .436 shooting percentage from inside the arch and .315 percentage from outside. From the defensive end, Marshall averages 5.1 blocks a game with 6.8 steals. Obinna Anochili-Killen leads the team in points with 360 and ranks first in the Sun Belt and second in the nation in blocks with 77 and averages 2.96 per game. Mikal Dawson sits close behind with 352 points. Dezanye Mingo has dished 127 assists (5.1 per game) this season.

ABOUT GSU

Georgia State is 12-15 overall with an even 7-7 SBC record. The Panthers currently sit at 261 in the NET rankings with a -5.1 BPI.

The Panthers average 75.4 points a game with a .448 shooting percentage from the field. GSU averages 12.7 assists a game with a 5.6 average of steals and 2.9 blocks a game. Cesare Edwards leads the Panthers in points with 439 (16.3 ppg) while Toneari Lane follows behind with 398 (14.7 ppg), though Lane leads the teams in three-pointers made with 79. Nick McMullen has grabbed 260 rebounds so far in the season, averaging 9.6 a game.
