Women's Tennis Blanks JMU, 7-0

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The 75^th-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team started the final month of the regular season with a 7-0 win over James Madison in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at Hillside Courts.
 
"Strong score today from our group. We are happy with where we are at this point in the season and are looking forward to playing at home next week," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla.
 
Doubles saw the Monarchs take wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the point. Ulyana Romanova and Alexandra Viktorovitch opened with a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Cate Broerman and Alexandra Prudente. JMU scored the win at No. 3 then Sofia Johnson and Lidiia Rasskouskaia took the last two games to claim a 7-5 win at No. 1 over Daria Munteanu and Ines Oliveira for the early 1-0 lead.
 
In singles, Johnson opened with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Munteanu for a 2-0 lead. The next two matches went to three sets with ODU claiming wins by Allison Isaacs at No. 3 (6-4, 3-5, 6-0) over Hope Moulin and the clincher by Viktorovitch at No. 2 (7-5, 2-6, 6-2) over Broerman for a 4-0 lead.
 
Rasskouskaia pushed the lead to 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Reka Matko at No. 4, before Romanova scored a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 over Hayley Glen as she won the last two games to claim that match. Kira Matushkina finished off the sweep with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5 over Alexandra Prudente.
 
ODU (11-5, 7-0) returns home to face Coastal Carolina on Friday at 2 p.m.
