Women's Tennis Finishes Regular Season At App State Saturday

NORFOLK, Va. – The 66th-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team concludes their regular season on Saturday with a visit to Boone, North Carolina to face App State.
 
The Monarchs have already clinched the regular season title and the top-seed for next week's Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Rome, Georgia.
 
ABOUT ODU
ODU (13-5, 9-0) heads to App State on the heels of a 4-3 regular season clinching win on Senior Day over Georgia Southern. The match came down to sophomore Allison Isaacs at No. 3 who won 6-2, 6-3 to ice the victory. Graduate student Alexandra Viktorovitch set up Isaacs as she evened the match at 3-3 with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 win at No. 2.
 
In singles this spring, Lidiia Rasskouskaia has a 15-1 mark and has won her last eight matches mainly at No. 5 to lead the team. Ulyana Romanova is 13-4 mainly at No. 6, while Sophia Johnson is 11-3 at No. 1 and Viktorovitch is 11-4 mainly at No. 2. The duo of Rasskouskaia and Johnson have the best doubles mark this spring going 11-4 at No. 1, while Romanova and Alexandra Viktorovitch are 6-4 at No. 2.
 
The all-time series has ODU leading 3-0 winning last year's match 7-0 in Norfolk on April 22.
 
ABOUT APP STATE
The Mountaineers have lost their last two matches heading into this regular season finale falling at South Alabama (4-1) and at Marshall (4-3).
 
In league play they won four straight after a league opening loss to JMU (5-2). They defeated Georgia State (4-1), Troy (4-0), ULM (5-2) and Arkansas State (5-2). Following that run they lost to Louisiana (4-3) and beat Texas State (4-1) and Southern Miss (4-1).
 
Savannah Dada-Mascoll and Maggie Pate lead App State with 14 wins in singles. Dada-Mascoll is 14-1 at No. 1, while Pate is 14-5 mainly at No. 3 and Naledi Manyube joins them in double figure singles wins at 11-5.
 
NEXT UP
ODU heads to Rome, Georgia for the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championships. The Monarchs will play on Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. against an opponent to be determined.
