NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its weekly Women's Tennis Award winners on Wednesday afternoon and Old Dominion freshman Ulyana Romanova was named Player of the Week.

This marks the fourth time an ODU player has won the weekly honor. Sofia Johnson won it in consecutive weeks, while Allison Isaacs won it once.

Romanova, moving up a spot in the lineup due to injuries and illness, went 2-0 in singles and had the clinching win in a 4-3 victory over No. 47 VCU on February 28. The Kazhakstan native lost her first set to Tiziana Rossini 6-1, then trailed 4-2 before storming back to win the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-4) and in the deciding set she jumped out to a 4-1 advantage en route to the 6-2 match clinching win.

Against No. 33 Princeton on March 1, she won the only singles point with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Madeleine Jessup.  On the year, she is 5-3 in singles.

Old Dominion (4-5) returns to action on Saturday hosting Marshall in its Sun Belt Conference opener at 10 a.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
