Women's Tennis Starts Road Swing At Arkansas State Thursday

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team hits the road this week for a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches at Arkansas State on Thursday at noon EDT and at ULM on Saturday at 11 a.m. EDT.

ALL TIME VS. ARKANSAS STATE
This will be the second all-time meeting with ODU winning last year's matchup 4-0 in Norfolk on April 1. ODU took the doubles point behind wins from Alexandra Viktorovitch and Sofia Johnson at No. 1 and Shahar Biran with Alesya Yakubovich at No. 2. In singles, Biran (6-1, 6-0), Yakubovich (6-1, 6-2) and Viktorovitch (6-2, 6-2) lost a combined eight games as the Monarchs took straight set wins at No. 2-4 spots.
 
ALL TIME VS. LOUISIANA
This will also be the second all-time meeting with ULM following ODU's 7-0 win on April 2, 2023 in Norfolk. ODU won the doubles point behind wins from Biran and Yakubovich at No. 2 and Mya Byrd with Johnson at No. 3. In singles, four of the six matches went straight sets as Allison Isaacs locked up the sweep with a three-set win at No. 5 .
 
ABOUT ODU (8-5, 4-0)
The Monarchs went 2-0 last weekend at home with a 6-1 win over Texas State and a 7-0 win over Louisiana.
 
Against Texas State, ODU won the doubles point with wins at the top two spots and then won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Viktorovitch clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3.
 
Against Louisiana, ODU won the doubles point with wins at the top two spots and took four of the six singles matches in straight sets. Viktorovitch and Ulyana Romanova each won third-set tiebreakers to lock up the 7-0 sweep.
 
Rasskouskaia leads in spring dual wins going 10-1, while Johnson (9-1) and Romanova (9-3) are just behind her. In doubles, Johnson and Rasskouskaia lead the team this spring going 8-4 at No. 1, while Romanova and Kira Matushkina are 5-1 at No. 3.
 
ABOUT ARKANSAS STATE (7-8, 1-3)
The Red Wolves lost their last two matches, both by 5-2 counts, to Marshall and App State last weekend. In league play, they defeated ULM (4-0) and lost to South Alabama (4-0) as well.
 
Arkansas State has three players with nine wins this spring in singles in Ariadna Fernandez (9-3), Yasmine Humbert (9-10) and Sarah Millard (9-12). In doubles, Millard and Humbert lead the team with a 5-4 record in the No. 1 spot.
 
ABOUT ULM (1-11, 0-4)
The Warhawks have lost their last 11 matches after a season opening 5-2 win over LSU Shreveport. Last weekend they lost to App State (5-2) and Marshall (7-0) at home. They've lost to Arkansas State (4-0) and Louisiana (5-2) in earlier league action.
 
Angela Del Campo Suarez leads ULM in singles wins this spring with a 4-4 record, while Tamara Bachman and Giovanna Pereira are 3-5. In doubles, Pereira and Alice Klinteby are 3-3 to lead the team.
