NEW ORLEANS - Old Dominion Football quarterback Quinn Henicle was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season, the SBC announced on Monday.
In his first career start, the true freshman Henicle rushed 19 times for 206 yards and two touchdowns and completed 9-of-12 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns to lift ODU to a 40-32 win at Arkansas State.
On ODU's first play of the game, he rushed for a school record 92-yard touchdown to give ODU a 7-0 lead. The run is tied for the third longest of the season and longest of the year by a quarterback. He also scored on a 1-yard TD run for ODU's final points of the game and the eventual winning margin. He tossed a 75-yard touchdown and an eight-yard strike, both to Pat Conroy. The 200-yard rushing game by a QB was the second in ODU history and first since 2009.
