The BIG EAST Conference has announced its field hockey regular season awards.

NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference has announced its field hockey regular season awards. Frederique Zandbergen and Tess Jedeloo have been named to the First Team All-BIG EAST. Serena Langendoen and Suus Broers were named to the Second Team All-BIG EAST.

“This is well deserved recognition for these four. Each of them has worked hard and performed at a high level this season,” said ODU Head Coach Andrew Griffiths

Zandbergen, a midfielder from Tilburg in the Netherlands, leads the team in assists, dishing 17 and has scored four goals for 25 points. Zandbergen ranks first in the BIG EAST in assists (17) and is tied for first in the nation in assists per game (1.00). She ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in points and points per game (1.47).

This is the second year in a row she has been named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, Zandbergen was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in her sophomore year.

Jedeloo, a forward from Amsterdam in the Netherlands, has recorded 27 points, scoring 12 goals and dishing three assists. She was awarded the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on September 10 as well as the NFHCA Offensive Player of the Week on September 11th. In the BIG EAST, Jedeloo ranks first in shots (72) and shots per game (4.24), second in goals and goals per game (.76), and fourth in points.

Jedeloo was previously named to the 2023 NFHCA DII All-American and 2023 NCAA All-Tournament Team.

Langendoen, a defender out of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on October 15. She has started every game on defense as a freshman, scoring seven goals and handing out one assist for 15 points. With 47 shots on the season, she ranks fifth in the BIG EAST as a defender.

Broers, a goalie out of Utrecht in the Netherlands, has logged 979 minutes and recorded 46 saves this season. The ODU keeper was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on September 3. She sports 1.57 goals against average which ranks third in the BIG EAST. Old Dominion ranks second in the BIG EAST in goals against average (1.45) and goals allowed (22).

This is the second year in a row that she has been named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.

“The thing that I like with our team at the moment, is that I can name a number of other players who I feel are worthy of these honors. We have other players who also have a big influence on the game. So in a way, this individual recognition is a reflection of the hard work of all, and a balanced team, with high quality across the field.” said Griffiths.

The Monarchs take on Temple in the BIG EAST Tournament on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m.
