ODU leads the all-time series 62-7 and has won six in a row against the Tribe. The two teams met in Williamsburg on Nov. 30 last year with the Monarchs coming away with a 72-66 victory inside Kaplan Arena. The game was tied at 68-68 with just under three minutes to play in the fourth quarter, but ODU made 6-of-7 shots at the free-throw line to cement the win. Jordan McLaughlin paced the offense with 22 points, En’Dya Buford followed with 18, and Lanetta Williams contributed 11.
About ODU
It was a defensive battle between the Monarchs (4-1) and Rams last Thursday, but Simone Cunningham grabbed an offensive rebound, spun through traffic and scored the decisive basket with 11 seconds remaining as ODU defeated VCU, 53-51 in overtime. Cunningham led the way with 13 points and six rebounds, Kelsey Thompson was next with 12 points, and Simaru Fields chipped in 11 points and a team-high seven boards.
Buford and Fields are the top two scorers with 11.8 and 10.0 ppg, respectively. The pair are also the top threats from the perimeter having combined to make 14 of ODU’s 24 made three-pointers so far. Buford is third in the Sun Belt in free-throw shooting at 82.6% and fourth in the league with 4.0 assists per game. Also shooting a high clip at the charity stripe is Mikayla Brown (7.0 ppg) at 84.6%. She leads the Monarchs on the glass with 30 boards (6.0 rpg).
Rebounding continues to be a strong suit for the Monarchs, who come into Tuesday’s game ranked seventh in the country with 18.4 offensive rebounds per game and 29th nationally with 44.0 rebounds per game. ODU is also 36th in three-point percentage defense (23.8%) and 37th in bench points per game (29.2).

About William & Mary
The Tribe (1-4) has primarily been on the road to start its 2024-25 campaign and its lone victory came in its only game at Kaplan Arena, a 66-42 win over NCAA Division II member Chowan on Nov. 14. W&M is coming off an 82-47 road loss to Richmond last Thursday. Bella Nascimento scored 16 points and Kayla Beckwith flirted with a double as she tallied 10 points with eight rebounds.
Nascimento paces the Tribe offense and ranks fourth in the CAA with 15.8 ppg. The senior guard is also second in the conference with 88 field goal attempts. Following her in scoring are Cassidy Geddes at 7.2 ppg and Natalie Fox at 7.0 ppg. Nascimento and Geddes have combined for 14 threes and Fox owns a team-high five blocks.
