RADFORD, Va. – Devin Ceaser led four Old Dominion men’s basketball players in double-figures with 23 points, but the Monarchs fell 87-75 Tuesday night at Radford.
Old Dominion (0-3) trailed 44-27 at halftime but began its comeback early in the second half with a 10-0 run sparked by four points each from Devin Ceaser and Jaden Johnson and a jumper by Robert Davis, Jr. to make the Radford lead 46-36.
Radford (2-1) pushed its lead back to 11 at 48-37 before another Ceaser jumper cut the lead back to nine at 48-39 with 14 minutes remaining.
The Monarchs made another push at the nine-minute mark with a bucket by Ceaser and a pair of free throws by Sean Durugordon to make the score 56-50 Radford.
The Highlanders pushed their lead back to double-digits before a Davis three-pointer made it a seven-point game again at 69-62. ODU narrowed the gap to 78-70 on a jumper by Ceaser but the Monarchs would get no closer.
Old Dominion got on the board first with a three-pointer from Robert Davis Jr. but Radford followed with a 26-1 run that lasted nearly eight minutes before it was finally broken by a Stephaun Walker three-pointer.
A Devin Ceaser three-pointer closed the gap to 13 at 33-20, before Radford took a 44-27 halftime lead.
Ceaser pulled down six rebounds to go with his 23 points, while Durugordon added a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Davis scored 15 points and Jaden Johnson pitched in 10 points and a pair of assists.
After a two-game road trip, the Monarchs return home on Friday, Nov. 15 to host UMES.
