NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team finished off their 2024 home schedule on Wednesday night with a 0-0 draw against Marshall at the ODU Soccer Stadium.

“On the positive side, we had another clean sheet and continued that streak, we were really solid in that sense. I think defensively we were fantastic tonight. Obviously, we are disappointed to put 19 shots on the board to one, you certainly expect to come away with something,” said ODU Head Coach Angie Hind.

That shutout was the ninth on the season for ODU (9-4-3, 4-1-3), the fourth in their last five games and the fourth in a row at home. The Monarchs went 5-0-2 in their final seven home matches of the season.

Old Dominion dominated shots 19-1 and held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks, but could not find the back of the net. ODU had several chances just sail high or wide, but the ones on goal were kept out by Alexis Wolgemuth who had nine saves on the night and several sprawling out saves to stop the Monarchs.

The backline of the Monarchs proved solid again as Erin Jones didn’t have to make a save on the night to get her third clean sheet of the season. Marshall had a couple of chances in the second half, but the defensive effort tracked down potential shots and stripped the ball away before any potential damage could occur.

“They made it super tough, they packed it in and made it difficult to get the break of the ball when we thought we had it. Really proud of the performance, effort, and how we played. We will go and look at some things to get a little better with quality in front of the goal. Overall it’s another point and we move forward,” Hind added.

ODU now heads to Arkansas State for a 2 p.m. ET start on Sunday.
