ODU Travels to Face Quinnipiac Before Senior Night Against App State

The Old Dominion Field Hockey team (9-5) travels to Connecticut to face Quinnipiac (2-13) on October 27 in BIG EAST Conference play. The team will then return home as the Monarchs will host App State (8-6) for the first meeting between the two programs on Sunday, October 29. The game against App State will be senior night and six seniors will be honored for representing ODU proudly during their collegiate careers.

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion Field Hockey team (9-5) travels to Connecticut to face Quinnipiac (2-13) on October 27 in BIG EAST Conference play. The team will then return home as the Monarchs will host App State (8-6) for the first meeting between the two programs on Sunday, October 29. The game against App State will be senior night and six seniors will be honored for representing ODU proudly during their collegiate careers.

In the last meeting against Quinnipiac on October 20, 2023, ODU found the back of the net eight times and only conceded five shots to the Bobcats en route to an 8-0 victory. Goals from Jolene Ulichney and Josi John helped in the effort to secure the victory for the Monarchs.

This will be the first meeting between the field hockey programs of Old Dominion and App State.

Both games will have live stats. The game against Quinnipiac will be streamed on ESPN+ and the game against App State will be streamed on ODUSports.com.

ABOUT ODU:

Old Dominion is coming off a weekend where the team defeated Villanova (2-1) and fell to #1 North Carolina (3-1). Tess Jedeloo recorded an assist against the Wildcats and scored a goal against the Tar Heels. 

Jedeloo leads the team in total points (25) on 11 goals and three assists. Frederique Zandbergen ranks second in total points (23) with four goals and a team leading 15 assists. Zandbergen is second in the country in assists per game (1.15). Sian Emslie ranks third on the team with 21 total points from nine goals and three assists. 

Old Dominion ranks sixth in the nation in assists per game (3.00), ninth in goals scored per game (3.00), fourth in penalty corners per game (9.07), and seventh in both scoring average (3.13) and scoring margin (2.09). Old Dominion is tied for first in the BIG EAST in goals allowed (17), ranking first in goals off penalty corners (16) and total penalty corners (129). ODU ranks second in goals scored (43), goals scored per game (3.07), and scoring average (3.46).

Suus Broers has started all 14 games in goal, logging 789 minutes and recording 40 saves. She ranks third in the BIG EAST sporting a 1.50 goals against average.

ABOUT QUINNIPIAC:

The Bobcats are on a nine-game losing streak as they prepare to host the Monarchs in Connecticut. Francisca Eschoyez is the team’s leading scorer with 10 goals this season. Ranking second in points on the team is Cameron Brower with seven points from two goals and three assists.

Cristina Torres has started in goal for the Bobcats in all 15 games, logging 852 minutes in goal and recording 99 saves.

ABOUT APP State:

The Mountaineers have lost three of their last four matches, having to face Longwood at home on Friday before heading to Norfolk to battle the Monarchs on senior night. App State is led by Lise Boekaar who has 11 points on two goals and seven assists this season. Both Charlotte Bosma and Henriette Stegen have four goals and two assists for 10 points, tying for second on the team.

Claire Grennis has started all 14 games in goal, logging 834 minutes and recording 59 saves.
