NORFOLK, Va. – Day Four of the ITA Atlantic Regionals saw a pair of Old Dominion men’s tennis players advance to the singles semifinals on Monday morning.
Second-seeded Connor van Schalkwyk and fifth-seeded Cosme Rolland de Ravel meet in one semifinal at 10 a.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The winner advances to the regional final at approximately 1 p.m. and will also earn a bid to the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas from November 19-24.
Van Schalkwyk started the day with a 7-5, 6-3 win over eighth-seeded Maxime St.-Hillaire of Virginia Tech. The sophomore advanced to the quarters after a three-set win over Akira Morganstern of Georgetown 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Rolland de Ravel won his quarterfinal by the same 7-5, 6-3 count over Mans Dahlberg of Virginia. He had advanced after a 6-3, 6-4 win over Keegan Rice also of Virginia.
In doubles, the Monarchs saw a split in the quarterfinals with Connor and Codie van Schalkwyk winning 8-3 over Julian Lozano and Ilyas Milad Fahim of Virginia Tech. Rolland de Ravel and Adam Majchrzak lost 8-6 to Matt Harper and Alberto Orso also of Virginia Tech. In their semifinal, the van Schalkwyks lost 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 to Joaquim Almedia and Siwanat Auytayakul of Liberty.
