NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its preseason men’s basketball poll on Monday morning and the Old Dominion Monarchs were picked to finish tied for eighth with Georgia Southern.
“We are excited for the upcoming season. Clearly, the Sun Belt has multiple teams that are capable of making noise. We are proud to be a part of this great conference and look forward to competing with the other 13 programs,” said ODU Head Coach Mike Jones.
Arkansas State was picked as the top team with 12 out of 14 first place votes, followed by James Madison and Troy who each had one first place vote. The next wave was Louisiana, Southern Miss, App State and Texas State followed by the Monarchs and Georgia Southern.
ODU opens its season on November 4 hosting Buffalo at 7 p.m. in the first round of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge.
