GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Old Dominion men’s golf team wrapped up the final round of the Ironwood Collegiate Classic on Tuesday afternoon, tying with Barton for eighth place overall.

The field was scheduled to play two rounds on Monday, but due to weather the tournament was shortened to only 36 holes.

Old Dominion as a team combined for a six-under par 282 in the first round on Monday, and followed with a score of 285 on Tuesday to finish with a 36-hole total of 567 (-9). East Carolina won the team title with a 548 at 28-under par. Coming in second was Long Island, who finished at 26-under par 550, and Florida Atlantic took third with a 552 (-24).

"I am proud of how all my guys battled through the elements this week. Our two senior captains led the way and set the tone for the rest of the guys. Philip [Minnehan] and Jacob [Gunther] both collected Top 25s. There's still a lot of room for improvement but even though we only completed 36 holes due to the rain, we are trending in a positive direction and look forward to Elon in a couple weeks," said Associate Head Coach Barry Marple.

Coming in first place in the individual standings was Florida Atlantic’s Biagio Gagliardi, who carded a 13-under 131. Long Island’s Arjun Singh Bhatia was the runner up with a final total of 134 and East Carolina’s Tyler DeChellis took third with a 135.

For ODU, Philip Minnehan led the Monarchs with a five-under par 139 to tie for 14th. The senior from Rochester, New York entered the day in fourth place after converting six birdie putts for a round of 67 on Monday. He then shot an even 72 on Tuesday. Jacob Gunther came in next for ODU, his three-under par 141 tying for 22nd. The senior Stockholm, Sweden native birdied four holes on the back nine during his first lap around the course at Ironwood Golf & Country Club. He followed that effort with an even 72 for his final round. Jakob Sutor went one-under par with a 143 to tie for 40th. Cullen Campbell recorded a three-under 69 on Tuesday to tie for 48th with an even 144, and Kaijun Ma finished with a seven-over 151, tying him for 76th.

ODU’s next tournament will be the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by Elon University at Alamance Country Club on October 14-15 in Burlington, N.C.
