NEW YORK - Suus Broers was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and Frederique Zandbergen was named to the Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Broers helped the #18 Monarchs in back-to-back shutout displays against Richmond and Hofstra this week. She registered 105:00 minutes in goal with five saves.
Zandbergen recorded points in both fixtures, with three assists in the match against Richmond and a pivotal goal against Hofstra to break the deadlock.
Both members were, in part, responsible for securing 3-0 wins in consecutive outings to start the season.
Broers has now followed up being named the BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year with the first installment of the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
The Monarchs will next be in action this Friday, September 6 at noon when they will take on Queens University of Charlotte at Bessant Field as they look for their third win of the season.
