NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion Field Hockey Team will look to continue winning ways against Temple and VCU this weekend. Coming off a win last time out against the #11 Liberty Flames, the Monarch’s will look to go 2-0 in BIG EAST Conference Play when they take on Temple in Philadelphia. The Monarchs will finish the weekend by heading to Richmond to battle VCU on Sunday.

Both matches will have live stats and will stream on ESPN+. 

In the last meeting against Temple in 2023, ODU won by a score of 2-0 in the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals. The Monarchs scored five minutes before halftime through Sacha De Gier, Anna Miller scored two minutes into the third quarter to make the score 2-0. Frederique Zandbergen assisted on both ODU goals.

In the last time out against VCU in 2022, the Monarchs came out victorious 2-1. Old Dominion was behind going into the last five minutes of action until a goal from Marlon De Bruijne evened the score. Sanci Molkenboer found the back of the net with a little over one minute remaining in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

ABOUT ODU:

Old Dominion is looking to continue its good form in away contests, being 4-0 in games away from Norfolk. Tess Jedeloo leads the team in points with 14. She has scored seven goals in seven games for the Monarchs. Serena Langendoen comes off a performance which earned her a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She scored two goals including the game winner against Liberty, bringing her totals to four goals and one assist so far this season.

Suus Broers has started all seven games in goal for ODU. She has recorded 18 saves so far with a save percentage of .720. Broers has a record of 5-2 on the season.

ABOUT Temple:

The Owls come into the weekend with a 3-4 record.. Having started their season 2-0, they have gone 1-4 in their last five matches. Devin Kinzel has been the team’s leading scorer so far this season with five goals for 10 points. Halle Aschenbach ranks second on the team in points with three goals and two assists for eight points.

Temple has used two goalkeepers this season. Alex Lepore has started four games and recorded 12 saves. Isabella Ospitale has started three games and recorded 15 saves.

ABOUT VCU:

The Rams are currently .500, going 3-3 in their first six games. Before playing ODU, VCU will play Lock Haven on Friday, September 27. All of the Ram’s victories have come in overtime, going 3-1 in their four games that go that far. The team is led by Josefina Ventimiglia who has five points on two goals and one assists. Skylar Padgett ranks second on the team with four points on two goals. 

Emma Clements has started all six games in goal for the Rams. She has recorded 32 saves.
