NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion senior Sofia Johnson will open play on Wednesday in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina.

The London, England native started her 2024 fall season with a 2-1 record at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina two weekends ago. In that event she recorded wins over players from Florida and Virginia. She started the fall season ranked 37th nationally.

Johnson earned a bid to the main draw coming off a 2023-24 campaign that saw her earn All-American honors in May with a run to the round of 16 in the NCAA Championships. She finished last season 22-11 in singles and ranked 69th nationally.

The ITA All-American Championships now serves as one of four qualifying pathways to the NCAA Individual Championships which will be held now in the fall season for the first time on November 19-24 in Waco, Texas.

From the ITA All-American Championships, ten singles players (10) will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (eight main draw quarterfinalists & two feed-in consolation finalists).
