NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Football heads to Ohio following a bye week to take on Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.

The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Jason Ross on play by play and Tyoka Jackson as the color analyst, while Ted Alexander and Andy Mashaw will have the call on the ODU Sports Radio Network.

• Old Dominion fell to Virginia Tech 37-17 the week prior to the bye. Colton Joseph made it first career start at quarterback and true freshman Quinn Henicle galloped for a 65-yard touchdown in his first career action.

• For just the third time in its last 17 games, ODU did not play a one-score game. Virginia Tech has beaten ODU in two of those games, including the 2023 opener, 36-17.

• Bowling Green lost at Texas A&M last Saturday, 26-20. Connor Bazelak completed 20-of-36 passes for 250 yards and a touchdown and interception. Harold Fannin Jr. caught eight passes for 145 yards and a touchdown. Brock Horne led the Falcons with eight tackles.

Jahron Manning had a career-high 11 tackles for the Monarchs. Defensive tackle Denzel Lowry also set a new career-best with nine stops against Virginia Tech.

• Running back Bryce Duke had four carries for 85 yards against his former school. A Virgina Tech transfer, Duke had runs of 48 and 32 yards against the Hokies.

ODU and Bowling Green Ties
ODU Offensive Line Coach Alex Huettel returns to his alma mater on Saturday as Huettel was a four-year starter on the offensive line for the Falcons from 2011-15. Huettel started a program record 55-straight games. He was the anchor of an offensive line that helped Bowling Green set program records in points (591), first downs (389), passing yards (5,135), total yardage (7,655) and total offensive touchdowns (81) in 2015. Huettel earned All-MAC honors three times (2013-15) and Phil Steele first-team All-America accolades as a senior.

Huettel got his start in coaching with Bowling Green during the 2016-17 season. Current Bowling Green assistant strength coach Brandon Polidar was a strength coach intern at the time.

Bowling Green offensive line coach Greg Nosal is a native of Virginia Beach, just a short drive from Norfolk.

Interceptions Galore
Angelo Rankin Jr. notched his first interception as a Monarch against Virginia Tech.

ODU tied the single-game record for interceptions in a game with four in week two against East Carolina. Three came in the first half. Jahron Manning had two, one in the second and fourth quarters, while Patrick Smith-Young and Will Jones had one each.

The five interceptions through three games is the most by an ODU defense since the opening campaign in 2009 when the Monarchs had seven interceptions in the first three games.
