NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s tennis team will send two players to Tulsa, Oklahoma starting on Saturday for the ITA All-American Championships.
Connor van Schalkwyk and Codie van Schalkwyk will represent the Monarchs in the event. Both made the main draw for doubles, while Connor made main draw for singles. Codie earned a spot in the prequalification rounds for singles.
The event will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma with prequalification starting on Saturday, September 21. The main draw of the tournament begins on Wednesday, September 25.
On the season, the van Schalkwyks went 11-7 in doubles which included a run to the ITA Atlantic Region final and ITA Fall National Championship match. At the fall nationals, the brothers defeated duos from UAB, Pacific, Pepperdine and TCU. They started this season ranked eighth nationally.
Last year, Connor had an overall record of 23-6 in singles and 20-13 in doubles. He was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Conference in singles and doubles with his brother. Codie was 15-13 in singles last year and 28-9 in doubles.
Codie will start the prequalification rounds for singles on Saturday, September 21, while he and Connor will begin main draw doubles action on Wednesday, September 25. Connor will also start main draw singles on Wednesday.
