NORFOLK, Va. – The two-time Sun Belt Conference champion Old Dominion women’s tennis team opens its 2024 fall schedule on Friday morning when they compete in the three-day Kitty Harrison Invitational hosted by North Carolina.
The tournament field is a loaded one with NCAA Tournament participants: North Carolina, Charlotte, Purdue, Duke, Virginia, Florida and Penn State along with the Monarchs.
Each day of the tournament will have action starting at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Doubles will start the round followed by singles matches. Old Dominion will face Florida, Virginia and Duke in the tournament held at the Chewning Tennis Center.
The tournament is held in honor of Kitty Harrison, head coach of the North Carolina women's tennis team from 1976 to 1998. Eight of Harrison's 22 teams were ranked among the top 25 nationally and, under her direction, Carolina won four ACC Championships in a row from 1977 to 1980 and finished as the league runner-up four other times.
