POINT CLEAR, Ala. – Klara Wildhaber carded a two-under par 70 to tie for fourth place and the Old Dominion women's golf team is fourth in the team standings following Monday's opening round of the 2024 Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship in Point Clear, Alabama.
The Sun Belt is hosting the Championship at Lakewood Golf Club's Dogwood Course for the first time.
A senior from Fribourg, Switzerland, Wildhaber made five birdies on the day, three of them on the front nine and another two on the back nine. She is one stroke back of the overall leaders: Daniela Campillo of ULM, Hannah Karg from Coastal Carolina, and Fia Lindblom from Texas State.
Next for ODU is Lucia Gonzalez, who started off the tournament with an even score of 72 to sit in a tie for 12th place. Right behind her and tied for 18th is Puneet Bajwa with a one-over 73, Carley Rudolf posted a round of 75 to tie for 28th, and Minami Kudo rounded out the lineup with an 81 to tie for 56th.
As a group, the Monarchs combined for a two-over 290 for the day. ULM is atop the leaderboard following a round of 284 (-4), Texas State is second with a 287 (-1), and Georgia Southern is two strokes ahead of ODU and in third place with a 288 (E).
Tuesday's second round will see the Monarchs paired with Southern Miss, who is in fifth at 291. ODU will tee off from the first hole between 9:45-10:21 a.m. ET. Fans can follow along with live stats through GolfStat or watch the round on ESPN+.
