Lacrosse Falls To Quinnipiac, 14-10

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team fell to Quinnipiac, 14-10 at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex on Wednesday. Sydney Taylor led the Monarchs scoring three goals and assisting a pair of goals.
 
Quinnipiac (1-5) opened the scoring in the first quarter with 8:05 to play and one minute later extended its lead to 2-0. ODU responded as Taylor found Corrinne Stratton cutting for a goal but 40 seconds later the Bobcats would regain a two-goal advantage. Stratton scored her second goal of the day with 1:45 to play in the first but Quinnipiac found the back of the net with two seconds left taking a 4-2 lead into the second. 
 
Old Dominion (3-6) cut into the Bobcats lead as Emma Arnold found Lilly Siskind for a goal, but Quinnipiac answered with three goals of their own bolstering their lead to 7-3. As time was winding down in the half Emma Rowland was able to bounce one past the Bobcats keeper to make it 7-4 at the break.
 
Quinnipiac opened the third quarter with a goal building their lead back to four. Taylor cut into the deficit at the 6:37 mark when she scored her second goal of the day, but the Bobcats answered with a goal 37 seconds later. With 3:13 to play in the third, Taylor found Siskind for a goal as the Monarchs would enter the fourth quarter trailing 9-6.
 
Quinnipiac made it 10-6 to start the fourth period of play but Arnold cut into the lead with her first goal, then Taylor made the score 10-8 after Arnold found her cutting to the net. The Bobcats responded to ODU's two goals by scoring a pair over their own with 6:33 to play. Katie Pfeiler scored her first collegiate goal for the Monarchs as she teamed up with fellow freshman Ella Bowen. Taylor completed her hat-trick with 4:43 to play as the Monarchs trailed 12-10. Quinnipiac was able to add two more goals and keep ODU off the board to take a 14-10 win.
 
ODU was outshot 34-20 in the loss to the Bobcats.
 
Old Dominion is back in action on Sunday, March 17 at noon when they open American Athletic Conference play at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex against Cincinnati.
