LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Old Dominion lacrosse team fell to Rider 10-9 on Sunday at Ben Cohen Field. Emma Arnold scored four goals in the loss and Lilly Siskind surpassed 200 career points.
 
ODU (3-5) jumped on the board early as Sydney Taylor scored at the 10:33 mark, 40 seconds later the Monarchs expanded their lead courtesy of Ella Bowen converting a free position attempt. Rider (5-1) would cut in to the lead with a goal with four minutes to play in the first quarter but Arnold gave Old Dominion a two goal lead with 1:10 left in the period to take a 3-1 advantage into the second. 
 
Old Dominion bolstered its lead to three after a Siskind free position goal but the Broncos responded scoring back-to-back goals to make it 4-3. Arnold made it 5-3 with a goal with eight minutes to play in the first half but that would be all from both sides as ODU took a 5-3 advantage into the break. 
 
Fifty seven seconds into the third quarter Corrinne Stratton converted a free position attempt making it 6-3. Arnold scored her hat-trick at the 12:54 mark then 31 seconds later Taylor expanded the Monarchs lead to five making it 8-3. Rider would respond with a goal at the 9:40 mark and then 30 seconds later a second. The Broncos added one more goal in the third period making it an 8-6 game going into the fourth. 
 
Rider scored four more goals in the fourth quarter pushing it to seven unanswered goals  and taking a 10-8 lead before Arnold scored with 3:31 to play. ODU had a chance to tie in the final seconds of the game but was unable to score as Rider took the win 10-9.
 
The Monarchs are back in action on Wednesday, March. 13 at noon when they host Quinnipiac at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
