NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team concludes the 2023-24 regular season this week with a pair of road games. On Wednesday night, they will take on App State in Boone, North Carolina at 6:30 p.m. Friday night will have the Monarchs in Statesboro, Georgia to tangle with Georgia Southern at 7 p.m.

Old Dominion fell 82-67 on Thursday night to App State at home. The Monarchs held a 56-53 lead with 10 minutes remaining, but the Mountaineers went on a 19-2 run from that point to take the win. Devin Ceaser scored 22 points, while Chaunce Jenkins added 19 and Tyrone Williams had 11. App State leads the series 2-1.
 
In the first meeting with Georgia Southern on January 27, the Monarchs trailed by 16 points in the second half and trimmed the deficit to 69-68 with 32 seconds remaining but fell 76-70. Jenkins had 20 points and six assists, while Ceaser added 16 and R.J. Blakney had 11. ODU leads the all-time series 16-5.
 
ABOUT ODU
ODU opened Saturday night on a 13-4 run, fueled by all 13 from senior Tyrone Williams, as the Monarchs celebrated Senior Night with a 75-59 win over Coastal Carolina. Williams helped punctuate a career-high 33-point performance with a breakaway dunk late in the second half as the Monarchs pushed a 10-point lead to 21. The 33 points by Williams was the most by a Monarch since B.J. Stith scored 36 against UTSA in 2018.
 
For the season, Jenkins leads the team in scoring at 16.0 points per game and team-highs of 76 assists, 44 3-pointers and 108 free throws made. Williams follows at 12.7 points and a team-high 5.6 rebounds and 39 steals, while Ceaser is at 9.4 points per game. R.J. Blakney is next at 7.7 ppg and second on the team with 4.3 rebounds per contest, while leading in blocked shots with 25.
 
As a team, the Monarchs are averaging 70.6 points per game and allowing 75.6. From the floor, the Monarchs are hitting 763-of-1813 (42.1%) from the field, 198-of-631 (31.4%) from 3-point range and 322-of-487 from the foul line (66.1%). The opposition is hitting 736-of-1706 from the field (43.1%), 255-of-733 from 3-point range (34.8%) and 464-of-654 (70.9%) from the line. ODU is being outrebounded 40.3 to 35.5 per game. The Monarchs average 10.9 turnovers per game and force 13.2 per contest.
 
ABOUT APP STATE
The Mountaineers have won 13 of their last 14 games, including a 65-58 win at Marshall on Saturday night. Against the Herd, Myles Tate had a career high 25 points and scored 18 of App State's 42 second half points in the win. Donovan Gregory added 15 points and eight boards, while Terence Harcum had 12 points in a game that saw App State trailing 29-23 at halftime.
 
Gregory leads App State in scoring (13.0 ppg), free throws made (96) and steals (34).
Tre'Von Spillers follows him in scoring at 12.8 points per game and leads in rebounding at 8.6 per contest. Harcum rounds out the double figure scorers at 11.9 points per game. Tate is averaging 9.5 points and leads the team in assists with 104.
 
As a team, App State is averaging 78.3 points per game and allowing 66.5. From the floor, they're hitting 847-of-1796 (47.2%), 196-of-591 (33.2%) from 3-point range and 380-of-573 from the line (66.3%). Their opponents are hitting 734-of-1897 from the floor (38.7%), 190-of-625 from 3-point land (30.4%) and 270-of-390 (69.2%) from the line. On the boards, App State is averaging 41.9 rebounds per game to their opponents 36.6. They average 10.8 turnovers per game and force 11.0 per contest.
 
ABOUT GEORGIA SOUTHERN
The Eagles are heading into the final week after falling 80-74 to James Madison on Saturday night and will host Marshall before taking on the Monarchs Friday night.  Tyren Moore had 27 points and Avantae Parker added 17 against JMU as the Eagles held a 45-30 halftime advantage before giving up a 50-29 second half.
 
In the first meeting with ODU, Moore had 21 points to lead four in double figures. Nate Brafford had 13 points, Eren Banks added 12 and Parker had 10 as Georgia Southern held off a wild second half rally for a 76-70 victory.
 
Moore leads the team in scoring average (15.5 ppg), 3-pointers made (60), assists (82), free throws made (76) and percentage (83.5%). Banks rounds out the double figure scorers at 10.5 points per game. Eugene Brown is averaging 9.7 points per game, while Parker is at 8.0 and a team best 31 blocked shots.
 
As a team, the Eagles are hitting 726-of-1709 from the field (42.5%), 274-of-789 from 3-point range (34.7%), 359-of-499 (71.9%) from the line and average 71.9 points per game. Their opponents are hitting 786-of-1703 from the floor (46.2%), 230-of-630 from 3-point range (36.5%) and 509-of-726 from the line (70.1%) while allowing 79.7 points per game. Georgia Southern is being outrebounded 38.3 to 33.3 per game and average 13.4 turnovers per contest, while forcing 12.3.
