RICHMOND, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team fell to #20 Richmond, 19-3 on Wednesday at Robins Stadium.
Richmond would jump out to a 2-0 lead just 58 seconds into the game. Emma Arnold got the Monarchs (0-1) on the board cutting into the lead as she converted a free position attempt making it 2-1 with 11:23 to plat in the first. The Spiders bolstered their lead with seven more goals in the first quarter to take a 9-1 lead into the second. Richmond held ODU scoreless in the second period and pushed their lead to14-1 at the break.
ODU scored to start the third quarter when Megan Hopfenspeger scored her first career goal, but the Spiders found the back of the net for a 16-2 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes. Ella Bowen scored her first career goal with 13 minutes remaining in the game making 16-3. Richmond scored the final three goals taking the win 19-3.
ODU is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. when they travel to take on William & Mary.
